United States of Tara

United States of Tara Theme Song was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Main Title Theme Music last year (2009). It was composed by Tim DeLaughter—former frontman of Tripping Daisy and currently for The Polyphonic Scene.

I believe the theme song is untitled, or instead, referred to as “United States of Tara Theme.”

United States of Tara Theme Song

Lyrics

Open up the sky this mess is getting high

It’s windy and our family needs a ride

I know we’ll be just fine when we learn to love the ride

I know we’ll be fine when we learn to love the ride

I know we’ll be just fine when we learn to love the ride.

The new Showtime original series “United States of Tara” is the opening sequence, starring Toni Collette, starring executive producer Steven Spielberg.

PLOT:

The show represents a seemingly typical American family who must cope with the daily struggles of dissociative identity disorder (DID). Tara Gregson is the wife and mother of two children in Overland Park, Kansas, a suburb of Kansas City, diagnosed with DID.

Suffering side effects from the medication, she is depressed at her inability to focus, feel, be intimate, create art, and progress in therapy to discover the painful source of her dissociation. Finally, with approval from her therapist, she discontinues the medication, knowing that multiple personalities will reemerge.

Animated main title sequence from Showtimes original series, United States of Tara. Directed by Jamie Caliri. Music by Tim Delaughter.
